Festival Of Sails

Don’t miss a beat!

Geelong’s waterfront will be rocking to the beat of the Royal Australian Navy Band during two performances at the 2016 Festival of Sails Shoreside Festival.

The RAN’s Rock Band will travel from its base at HMAS CERBERUS to entertain the long weekend crowds on Saturday, January 23.

There are six RAN bands at various bases across Australia but only two, one in Melbourne and one in Sydney, are staffed by professional full-time musicians.

Much loved for their wide ranging musical repertoire from swing, jazz, big band to traditional military favourites, the RAN bands have built a loyal following playing to Australian and international audiences for more than a century. In addition to concert performances, they also travel widely conducting music workshops and visiting schools.

Members of the Melbourne RAN band recently returned from deployment on HMAS Anzac where they performed at commemorative services in Turkey for ANZAC DAY.

At the 2016 Festival of Sails, the RAN Rock Band will entertain Shoreside Festival crowds with a string of popular favourites from yesteryear through to contemporary top 40 hits. They’re guaranteed to get you tapping your toes!

Be sure to come with your dancing shoes on for the RAN Rock Band on Saturday January 23.
