Festival Of Sails

Festival of Sails gets connected!

The Royal Geelong Yacht Club is excited to welcome on board Geelong Connected Communities as a major sponsor of the Shoreside Festival for the 2016 Festival of Sails.

This is the second year Geelong Connected Communities has supported these hugely popular community celebrations and Festival of Sails Chairman Chris Williams says he’s delighted to see the partnership continue.

Geelong Connected Communities is sponsoring the Shoreside Festival in the Steampacket Gardens precinct for a second year. “The Festival of Sails is a great community event built around the highly successful regatta run by the Royal Geelong Yacht Club,” Mr Williams said.

“The combination of a first class sailing event and a free, family friendly Shoreside Festival offering fun entertainment and fabulous fireworks attracts a huge number of visitors to Geelong across the Australia Day long weekend.”

Chair Roger Grant says Geelong Connected Communities was established to support the local community and sponsoring a vibrant community festival is the perfect opportunity to show that commitment.

“Geelong Connected Communities has had extraordinary success in just two years and signing this agreement is a great way to celebrate our second year anniversary,” Mr Grant said. “So far we’ve put more than half a million dollars back into the local community and sponsoring the Festival of Sails Shoreside Festival is a ideal way to share that support on a broader level.”

The 2016 Festival of Sails Regatta will kick off with racing on Friday January 22 with the Shoreside Festival activities running from the Saturday to Tuesday January 26 along the Steampacket Gardens precinct.
