Festival Of Sails

National Championships heating up!

Two national titles will be decided at the 2016 Festival of Sails and as the number of entries climb the competition is certainly heating up.

With just one week until entries close on January 15, nine boats have registered for the Morris Finance Sydney 38 Australian Championship. Current title holders RGYC’s Brenton and Jen Carnell will be hard to beat in Phoenix but another RGYC entry, Ian Murray’s Cinquante, and South Australian David Knight’s White Knight will be keen challengers during the championship series from January 23 to 25.

It’s a similar scenario in the Bausele Australia VX One National Championship: one division and ten contenders. Eight interstate entries make this a very exciting group to watch during the national series from January 22 to 25, but South Australian yacht The Beast and local entry Chaos are tipped to go head to head.

“The calibre of competitors for these two national championships shows the 2016 Festival of Sails has an important place on Australia’s regatta calendar and adds to the spectacle offered to participants and event-goers,” said RGYC Commodore and Regatta Chairman Chris Williams.
