How Bizarre

A chat with the Skipper.

image-2Festival of Sails: What is your best memory/achievement sailing on this boat?

How Bizarre: The most memorable achievement to date was when we came from behind on the last leg of the final race of the 2015 Club Marine Winter Series Division 1 at RMYS, to win both the overall IRC and AMS trophies for that year.

FOS: What do you love most about your boat?

How Bizarre: The crew on ‘How Bizarre’ are a very close bunch of mates, firstly as friends outside of sailing and then secondly, as a team sailing on How Bizarre. Being best friends, we love the camaraderie and team work during a race and enjoy the social interaction after crossing the finish line. This particular version of How Bizarre (she is a Seaquest RP36) has been much more competitive than our past boats and has given us moderate success and a reason to celebrate!

FOS: How many times have you sailed in FOS?

How Bizarre: We have sailed in the FOS under the name ‘How Bizarre’ on about 10 occasions now.

FOS: Why have you chosen to compete in FOS 2017?

How Bizarre: We didn’t compete in the FOS 2016 as we chose to take that time to deliver our boat to Adelaide for the 2016 Adelaide – Port Lincoln destination race and the Lincoln Week Regatta in February 2016.

However, due to our mediocre performances in the past FOS regattas that we have sailed in, we have decided to return to the FOS 2017 and are determined to correct the ledger and have success in the largest annual keelboat regatta in the southern hemisphere.

FOS: Do you have your crew confirmed? If so, mention them here (so we can include them in the FOS blog post). If you don’t hav e crew yet and would like us to help you find some, let us know!

How Bizarre: We have a core crew of eight that sail on How Bizarre – namely, Scott Robinson (Skipper), Steve Reddish, Peter Haug, Damian Kininmonth, Peter Amarant, Glenn Bailey, Paul Horsey and Grant Keys.

We wish How Bizarre and Skipper Scott Robinson the best of luck! How Bizarre will be competing in the Cruising AMS Series.
