A chat with the Skipper.
Festival of Sails: What is your best memory/achievement sailing on this boat?
Liquid Asset: I purchased the yacht in 2014 after a long search for a keelboat. The yacht is well known in Geelong. The yacht was built for the 1998 Sydney Hobart and I believe it is one of a few later model Duncanson yachts built! The yacht was very tired when I purchased her so for the first couple of years with the help of Power Drive Marine we gave her a major going over.
FOS: What do you love most about your boat?
Liquid Asset: Liquid Asset is great boat to sail in all conditions especially going to windward and are known for their sea worthiness.
FOS: How many times have you sailed in FOS?
Liquid Asset: We have entered the yacht every year in the FOS passage race and I have sailed 2 FOS prior to that.
FOS: Why have you chosen to compete in FOS 2017?
Liquid Asset: We just enjoy the passage race staying the previous night in Melbourne and then the race to Geelong and enjoying the festivities when we get their! But what you will find surprising is that I and the people I sail with travel over 700 kms for the round trip to Geelong! So just getting away from work and spending time sailing or just been on the water in the Marina is a great break for us and we are known to come down just for the day and do some work on the boat and drive home again, so if their was a prize for been a little crazy we might be contenders for it!
We wish Liquid Asset and Skipper Andrew Wettenhall the best of luck! Liquid Asset will be competing in the Cruising Non-Spinnaker division.
