A chat with the Skipper.
Festival of Sails: What is your best memory/achievement sailing on this boat?
Primitive Cool: My best memory of sailing on the current Primitive Cool (PC to her friends!) was finishing 4th overall in the 2015 RSHYR. We have won the last 2 Melbourne – Geelong ORCV races on IRC, PHS and line honours (a clean sweep) and also happy being the current Melbourne – King Island Race record holder. (sorry, 3 things …. I just love her!). The boat won the 2010 RSHYR just after her launch for the previous owner
FOS: What do you love most about your boat?
Primitive Cool: I love the look of this boat …. she is drop dead gorgeous and goes quick as a bonus.
FOS: How many times have you sailed in FOS?
Primitive Cool: I have personally competed in 5 FOS events
FOS: Why have you chosen to compete in FOS 2017?
Primitive Cool: We have chosen to compete in the 2017 FOS because it is such a fun regatta. Usually great weather and serious competition helps to set the event second only to the RSHYR (my humble opinion). Close to home helps too.
FOS: Do you have your crew confirmed? If so, mention them here!
Primitive Cool: The crew will most likely reflect our RSHYR crew with some local RMYS to top up.
We wish Primitive Cool and Skipper John Newbold the best of luck! Primitive Cool will compete in the Rating series.
