Where do I find a competitor list and boat handicap allocations?

The competitor list and handicap allocations will be available to view on TopYacht once entries are open. 

 

How do I submit my crew declaration?

Skippers then need to enter the following details of ALL crew members who will be sailing during the regatta with the following details, and enter them into the TopYacht crew declaration.

  • Name
  • Email
  • Postcode
  • Silver membership (YA no.)

VHF communications Information Sheet

The following radio channels are being used by regatta organizers:

Royal Geelong Base (tower): VHF Channel 71
Mooring assistance & refueling VHF Channel 73
Water taxi (leaves floating dock east of the marina gate) VHF Channel 78

 How do I protest a result/ query a scoring ?

Contact the Regatta Office located opposite the Official Notice Board. You will be asked to fill out a protest or results query form to be considered by the Race Officials and Jury

 

I would like to request a change to my racing handicap/ division.

Please contact RGYC in writing prior to the Regatta, and we will ask the Handicapping committee to review your request. Email sailadmin@rgyc.com.au with your request.

 

I’ve lost my boom sticker/battle flag, can I get another one?

Please ask for a replacement at the regatta office located opposite the Official Notice board

 

An ambulance is coming, where will it pick up the injured?

Please take an injured person to the first aid room, which is located on the ground floor of the Cadet Shed (see appendix A).

If you have an injured person on board your boat, and need to bring them in, please radio Royal Geelong Base on VHF 71 or VHF 16, or phone the Principal Race officer on 0417 686 640, and call 000. The radio operator will direct you to the area under the crane, via the eastern side of the marina

Where can I find an After-hours doctor?

The Myers Street Medical Clinic is open from 8am-10pm, and is located at

148 Myers St, Geelong VIC 3220. ph (03) 5229 5192

Outside of these hours, please contact Barwon University Hospital, located a short distance from RGYC at 284 Ryrie street, or in an emergency, call 000.

 

I need to locate the Regatta Office.

The Regatta Office is located opposite the Official Notice board, alongside the main slipway. Enquiries on these matters please call 0437 689 928

 

I do not have my bow/boom sticker, can I still race ?

Yes, just ask for replacements at the Regatta Office, located opposite the Official Notice board.

Where do I catch a cab into town?

There is an event taxi rank during the Festival of Sails – located at the corner of Eastern Beach Road and Yarra Street, just outside the Club.

 

What hours are the Club café open?

Friday 26th January – 7am – 4pm

Saturday 27th January – 7am – 4pm

Sunday 28th January – 7am – 4pm

The café will be open for breakfast and lunch daily throughout the regatta. Food vendors will be open for dinner and all day in the Regatta Village precinct. 

 

 

What hours is the Club office open?

The RGYC office is strictly closed until 31 January 2018. All enquiries are to be directed to the regatta office located opposite the Official Notice Board

 

What are the Club bar hours during the event?

Bars will open at 11am daily and last drinks will be called at 24.30. 

 

What’s the situation with event passes?

There is no entry for anyone into club premises without a valid wristband pass after 5pm each evening. Passes are available from the Regatta Village entry point from 5pm. Each participant will receive one wristband whcih will be available for collection from the Regatta Office by Skippers as part of the Skippers’ Pack following the Passage Race. 

 

I am rafted in – how do I get out?

The best way is to discuss with skippers around you.  The Regatta Office can give you the mobile number of skippers but cannot assist in getting out. 

 

I have lost property where do I report/collect it?

All lost property is kept in the Regatta Office for the duration of the Festival of Sails

 

Where do the presentations take place?

All presentations will take place on the Regatta Village stage, or in front of the big screen beside the stage. 

 

Where’s the First Aid Room?

There is a First Aid room located under the Cadet Club house, along the breeze way to the men’s wet change rooms and toilets. Ambulances have access to the first aid station if called.

 

Can I get fuel in the marina?

There is only diesel available – flat rate of $1.60 a litre, cash only paid to person manning the bowser/ Marina Manager. However please be aware that maneuvering around the marina will be very difficult.

 

Trailer/yacht storage/launching
The City of Greater Geelong and RGYC will be providing a fenced, temporary storage facility on the site of Limeburners Point boat ramp. (A gravel area of approx 1000sqm – 2.5km from the yacht club). This deep water public ramp is ideally located for launching, retrieving and trailer storage.

 

Can I get a bus to Avalon airport ?

A taxi to Avalon will cost about $50 depending on traffic. Bus is approximately $12 one-way adult.

Avalon Airport Shuttle will meet all arriving and departing flights from Avalon Airport on a 7 day per week basis.

  • Geelong Bus Port to Avalon will operate on a “pre-booked” basis
  • Geelong Bus Port to Avalon approx. – 35 minutes
  • Located at 11-15 Douro Street, North Geelong to assist passengers with travel information and to allow payment of fares.

 

 

Can I get a bus to Tullamarine airport ?

  A taxi to Tullamarine will cost about $160 depending on traffic. The bus is approximately $25 one-way adult. Bookings necessary.
