What date is the festival?

The 2018 Festival of Sails will take place over three days, from Friday 26th January to Sunday 28th January 2018. 

How much does it cost to attend?

 The Festival of Sails waterfront entertainment is free to attend for all patrons, with market stalls and food vendors selling their wares for your enjoyment. The Regatta Village precinct (inside the Royal Geelong Yacht Club) is ticketed after 5pm and wristband entry is required. There is no charge for entry, but a limited number of tickets are available for the general public. Bookings are required and can be made here: https://www.trybooking.com/TLWC 

 

Is there an age restriction? 

The waterfront activities and events on Steampacket Gardens, Transvaal Square, Fairnie Park, Eastern Beach and Eastern Beach Reserve are open to the whole family. The Regatta Village Precinct (inside the Royal Geelong Yacht Club) is a licenced premises and is subject to liquor licencing regulations. 

Where can I find a schedule of daily events?

The full schedule and event map will be available to download on the website and on the event app prior to the event. The list of bands has been released and can be found here: https://festivalofsails.com.au/full-schedule-of-events-and-activities 

What time is the Festival on?

Friday 26th Jan – 10am-9.30pm (Fireworks at 9:15pm)  (Regatta Village open until midnight)

Saturday 27th Jan – 10am-7pm (Regatta Village open until midnight)

Sunday 28th Jan – 10am-5pm (Regatta Village open until 8pm)

 

Where can I park?

Parking is available along Ritchie Blvd and the surrounding streets of the Geelong Waterfront. Please check all signage to ensure you are aware of payments required and time restrictions.

What roads are closed?

The Festival of Sails and the Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race will have several road closures in place. Relating to the Geelong waterfront, Eastern Beach Road will be closed from Moorabool Street to Bellerine Street, and Yarra Street will be closed from Brougham Street. 

Details on road closures for the Festival of Sails event and Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race event will be posted here when available.  

Are there toilets nearby?

Public toilets are located on Transvaal Square, in Steampacket Gardens, and in the Regatta Village.

Will First Aid be available?

A First Aid tent will be available on Steampacket Gardens and an additional First Aid area will be located within the Regatta Village.

What is there for kids to do?

Lots! The Festival of Sails is a family friendly environment with plenty of activities for children of all ages. Check out the kids rides on  Eastern Beach Reserve, have a go at stand up paddleboarding, try your hand at sailing (for free!) or simply enjoy the food, market stalls and entertainment on Transvaal Square and Steampacket Gardens – including a number of kids entertainers!

Can I bring my own alcohol?

No. There will be designated areas where alcohol can be sold and consumed, only within the Royal Geelong Yacht Club (Regatta Village precinct). As per City of Greater Geelong regulations, no alcohol is permitted to be consumed in public outside of these designated licensed areas.

What night are the fireworks?

The fireworks display will take place on Australia Day – Friday 26th January, at 9.15pm

Will there be ATMs on site?

There is an ATM located inside the RGYC Clubhouse, and one located near the Wharf Shed.
