State Government extends Festival of Sails support til 2021

The 2017 Festival of Sails began with a bang yesterday, with some thrilling racing for the 174th running of the Melbourne to Geelong Passage Race.

Among the highlights of the first day’s events was an announcement by John Eren, Minister for Sport, Veterans, Tourism & Major Events, that the State Government will extend their support and funding for the Southern Hemisphere’s largest keelboat regatta for another three years – from 2019 to 2021.

Royal Geelong Yacht Club Commodore Chris Williams said, “We are delighted with the State Government’s ongoing support for this iconic Victorian sporting event.”

“As we head into our 175th anniversary in 2018, we look forward to continuing to deliver a truly unique event that sailing enthusiasts from all over the world – and the Geelong community – can truly be proud of.”
