Festival Of Sails

Our wonderful volunteers!

With more than 2,500 competitors and 100,000 visitors to the Shoreside Festival, the Festival of Sails wouldn’t be possible without the tireless efforts of volunteers.

This year, Volunteer Coordinator Lynette Kirman can call on the generous assistance of 173 volunteers, supporting the Royal Geelong Yacht Club both along the shoreside and in the Regatta Village.

“The list of tasks is quite long, actually, there is always a lot to do – from packing lunches, providing off-water support and acting as jurors through to running water taxis and helping crews to push and pull boats in an out of their pens,” said Lynette.

“We simply couldn’t do it without the generous support from local community organisations. The Lions Clubs of Lara and South Barwon have been involved for a long time, and the Newton Hockey Club is in its 20th year of volunteering, helping to clean up the site each year.”
