A chat with the Skipper.
Festival of Sails: What is your best memory/achievement sailing on this boat?
Laurelle: Sailing to Adelaide in Feb 2016 to compete in the Adelaide to Port Lincoln race and the following Port Lincoln Regatta is probably the highlight of the sailing on this boat. We ended up coming second in Div 2. overall, so a good result as well.
FOS: What do you love most about your boat?
Laurelle: This boat a Northshore 38 is easy to sail, and very seaworthy and safe. more than half the crew are female, and it does not take brute strength to sail.
FOS: How many times have you sailed in FOS?
Laurelle: I have been competing in the FOS since early 80’s, so probably sailed in more than 30 regattas.
FOS: Why have you chosen to compete in FOS 2017?
Laurelle: 2017 is another great opportunity to compete with yachts from all over the bay and some interstate yachts as well. Great social event too.
FOS: Do you have your crew confirmed? If so, mention them here!
Laurelle: Most of the crew are confirmed with one or two yet to commit. They are, Bonnie Schultz, Tanya Stanford, Charlie Aquilina, Paulina Hryniewiecka, Lance Vinnell and myself.
Laurelle will be competing in the Cruising AMS Division. Best of luck to the crew and skipper Ray Borrett.
