COVID Safety at the 2022 Festival of Sails

Being COVID Safe is a shared responsibility and it is the aim of the RGYC Board and the Festival of Sails Organising Committee to ensure that all attendees have a fantastic time at the 2022 Festival of Sails, whilst ensuring a safe environment for all. The objective of these COVID Safe guidelines is to protect the health, safety and well-being of patrons, staff, contractors, volunteers and the wider community.
The 2022 Festival of Sails Organising Committee is actively monitoring the COVID-19 situation, and will act in accordance with the advice of the Government and the Department of Health and Human Services.

COVID Vaccination Policy

In line with Victorian State Government guidance on Events, the 2022 Festival of Sails will require all patrons, staff, contractors, and volunteers to be fully vaccinated to participate in the event.
This means that patrons will be required to provide evidence of their double vaccination status upon entry to all event sites. Skippers will be required to make a declaration on behalf of their declared crew before on-water activity commences, committing to the double vaccinated status of the skipper and all crew.

COVID Safe Guide

Patrons Code of Conduct

  • Stay home if you are unwell or have a cough, fever, sore throat, shortness of breath or loss of taste or smell. Please do not attend the event until you are symptom free and have received a negative COVID-19 test result.
  • Maintain physical distancing from people outside your core social group. Keep at least 1.5 meters away from others.
  • Avoid physical greetings. i.e: handshakes, kisses and hugs.
  • Avoid crowded places, if an area seems congested stay away from that area.
  • Practice good hygiene – wash your hands with soap and water, use hand sanitizer that will be available onsite, cover coughs and sneezes.
  • Follow the instructions of the COVID marshals and signage when on site.
  • Ensure you Check In –scan and complete the COVID safe check in when entering an event site.

GENERAL INFORMATION

  • COVID safe messages may be delivered before, during and after events. Listen out for information and follow all directions.
  • All messaging will be communicated via the Festival of Sails website, the Official Notice Board, social media, or through audio commentary and signage on site.
  • If you have any questions, look out for one of the COVID marshals on site.

COVID SAFE CHECK IN

When entering an event site, all people will be required to provide contact tracing information by:

    • Scanning the QR code upon entering the site
      OR
    • Manually signing in if QR code is not functioning

Any person who is unwilling to provide their contact details may be asked to leave the event site.

COVID MARSHALS

The Regatta Village will have COVID marshals to help implement and monitor the sites COVID safe plan. All attendees will be required to follow the instructions of COVID marshals. If a COVID marshal requires assistance to manage an issue they will be assisted by the event management team. Any significant issue will be escalated to the Victorian Police to be handled.

CLEANING & HYGEINE

The RGYC Regatta Village will maintain a high standard of cleaning throughout operating hours, including high touch point cleaning to reduce COVID transmission risk.

COVID SAFE PLANS

All actions and plans have been developed with the aim of upholding the below best practice measures and mitigations to protect against COVID spread including:

  • EDUCATION:Training for staff, volunteers and participants in appropriate personal health and hygiene, and safe support in necessary functional areas.
  • DENSITY REDUCTION: Increasing venue space and encouraging appropriate physical distancing.
  • TOUCHPOINT MINIMALISATION: Reducing or removing points of interaction between staff, contractors, volunteers and participants/sailors.
  • SCREENING AND TRACING: Check in/out points for all persons at points of entry/exit. Signage and messaging communicating the importance of contract tracing across the event will be utilized.
  • COMMUNICATION: Constant communication of best practices, limitations to event access, and the promotion of alternative viewing experiences will be shared across all available platforms including direct email, the Festival of Sails website and social media, event signage and in person.
