Festival Of Sails

Lingy sets sails at RGYC

What a sport! Cameron Ling knows how to pull his weight, heading out recently with Royal Geelong Yacht Club’s Brenton Carnell and his Sydney 38 championship crew on their winning boat, Phoenix. Lingy was in Geelong with his own (camera) crew from Channel 7, filming a segment on the 2016 Festival of Sails for the Melbourne Weekender program.

The former Cats great, admitted he’d never been sailing on Corio Bay before but he looked right at home on deck during the two hour filming session.

Brenton and crew showed Cameron the ropes and, true champion he is, Lingy soon found his sea legs, helping raise the mainsail and spinnaker and steering a course around the bay.

Regatta Chairman and RGYC Commodore, Chris Williams, then spoke to Cameron about the 2016 Festival of Sails, presented by Rex Gorell Land Rover including the family fun to be had during the Shoreside Festival, supported by Geelong Connected Communities.

To see Lingy in action, tune into Channel 7’s Melbourne Weekender at 5.30pm on December 12.
