The Royal Geelong Yacht Club is delighted to announce that the Festival of Sails has appointed Musto as technical apparel and merchandise partner for the next three years.
Known as the number one sailing brand in the world, Musto partners some of the most prestigious regattas around the globe, including Cowes Week in the United Kingdom and the Rolex Sydney to Hobart Race.
“Musto is a brand born at sea. We have been tried and tested for many years and as a result we have been selected to partner some of the biggest sailing events in the world. From the Volvo Ocean Race to the Rolex Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race, Clipper Race and Cowes Week to name a few. Now we can proudly add the biggest regatta in the Southern Hemisphere to our portfolio.”
Musto Chief Executive Officer David Oliver said becoming apparel partner with Festival of Sails, which will be held in Geelong from January 25 to 27, 2020, had been a long-awaited moment for Musto.
“Aligning with strong brands and strong events is a very high priority for Musto and we have had the Festival of Sails regatta on our radar for a very long while,” he said.
“Festival of Sails will give us a great chance to showcase our range to a large audience, and we are very fortunate to be joining at a time when the event is picking up solid momentum.”
Mr Oliver said the whole company was looking forward to the 2020 Festival of Sails, with several staff members competing in the regatta each year.
“It has always been one of the highlights of our calendar year; now it’s official.”
Mr Oliver said that fellow Musto Director Geoff Boettcher and himself campaigned their boats most years at Festival of Sails, with various Secret Mens Business yachts (first entry in the 2020 Festival of Sails) having tasted success in the past.
“Aikin, which I co-own with Caillin Howard, has done a few Festival of Sails as well.”
He said the Geelong regatta has “over the years been a great tradition and an iconic must-do event”.
Mr Oliver said Musto’s range covered all aspects of sailing apparel, including dinghy, inshore, coastal, and offshore high performance protective wear.
“The fact that we can offer this, plus a comprehensive lifestyle range, means we can offer a lot more than the traditional regatta polo and cap.”
Musto will have a sales marquee at Festival of Sails with a full range of Musto gear including Festival of Sails merchandise.
Festival of Sails Chairman Stuart Dickson welcomed the announcement and the partnership with the prestigious brand. He said joining Musto’s portfolio of premier racing events was a major show of confidence in the Festival of Sails, Geelong’s Australia Day long weekend regatta.
“Musto is a premium sailing brand with a long and successful relationship with some of the world’s premier yachting events. It is exciting to have them on-board for the next three years and we look forward to a successful partnership, starting this summer with the 2020 regatta.”
