On behalf of the Festival of Sails Organising Committee, I am thrilled to announce the dates for the 2022 Festival of Sails – Saturday, 22 January to Wednesday, 26 January 2022. We look forward to welcoming sailors back to Geelong for 4 days of world class competitive sailing on Corio Bay, with additional on-water activities on the final day of the event.
In 2022, we will celebrate the 179th anniversary of the iconic Melbourne to Geelong Passage Race on Saturday, 22January 2022. Despite the disappointment of the cancellation of the 2021 Festival of Sails, being able to maintain the tradition of this great race was a highlight of the 2021 racing season for many.
With the COVID-19 pandemic still very much front of mind, our team is working hard to ensure we deliver a safe and responsible event in line with Government guidance and COVID Safe practices. This means the 2022 Festival of Sails may look different to the event we know and love, particularly the shoreside experience, however we are confident we are well positioned to deliver a fantastic event for our sailors.
A big thank-you must go out to the City of Greater Geelong, Visit Victoria and our major event sponsors for their ongoing support of the event. We anticipate releasing the Notice of Race and opening entries in the coming weeks, so please be sure to follow our social media for updates.
