With just one month to go until the 2017 Festival of Sails kicks off, the Royal Geelong Yacht Club has launched the Festival of Sails app for Apple and Android mobile devices, the ideal companion for Australia’s biggest celebration of sailing, providing real-time information on all the racing action as well as shoreside entertainment and what’s on.
The Festival of Sails App features functionalities such as easy access to sailing results, a full list of all racing events, an entertainment and music schedule, Geelong’s weather forecast, online news and a photo gallery, and it allows users to set up push notifications to receive updates during the event.
Festival of Sails 2017 Chairman Peter Alexander says the app was a fantastic new addition to the event to make it easier for competitors and visitors to keep track of the immense program on offer, and to be informed on race schedules, teams and competition outcomes.
“The Festival of Sails app is a great tool for competitors to keep an eye on the race schedule, teams, results and competition standings, allowing them to follow the event it its entirety more closely and in one place. Combining this with the live tracking of races through TackTracker means skippers, crews and sailing enthusiasts can follow the racing action on their phones,” said Mr Alexander.
“For visitors it’s the perfect way to plan the day ahead, with all the information about shows, entertainment, musical performers and the like at their fingertips. The event program is so extensive, it’s easy to miss something – but the new app will help to avoid that.”
The Festival of Sails app is now available from the App Store and Google Play.
