Dear sailors,
I am pleased to announce the Festival of Sails 2025, accompanied by our new artwork and the slogan “Experience It All.” This year’s design reflects the festival’s unique combination of on-water competition and on-shore festivities, embodying what makes our event special.
As we prepare for this significant edition, I want to inform you about the recent updates within our committee and racing personnel, along with the implementation of enhanced safety measures for the regatta. Our goal is to create a safe and enjoyable environment for everyone involved.
This year, we are also introducing an additional category in the Passage Rating Series, allowing Category 6 yachts to enter for the first time. This change aims to broaden participation and welcome a variety of vessels to our regatta.
We have a few exciting additions planned, including the participation of tall ships and an expanded entertainment offering. These enhancements are designed to enrich the experience for both sailors and spectators alike.
The 182nd edition of the Melbourne to Geelong Passage Race is set for Saturday, January 25, 2025. In addition to this historic race, participants can expect three days of competitive racing on Corio Bay, along with various festivities at the Royal Geelong Yacht Club and the waterfront.
Whether you are competing or enjoying the festivities from the shore, the Festival of Sails promises a rewarding experience for all. We look forward to welcoming you, your crew, and your families to Geelong in January 2025.
Thank you, and I wish you all the best as we prepare for another successful festival.
Sincerely,
Phil Francis
Chair, Festival of Sails
