Festival of Sails returns to Geelong from 23–26 January 2027, celebrating its 184th year as Australia’s oldest continuous sporting event and the Southern Hemisphere’s largest keelboat sailing regatta.
The 2027 event will proudly play host to the Australian Yachting Championship, the Australian Sports Boat Association Australian Championship and the S80 Victorian Championship, adding elite national and state-level competition to an already outstanding fleet.
Racing will once again commence with the iconic Melbourne to Geelong Passage Race, bringing fleets from across Port Phillip Bay into the renowned sailing waters of Corio Bay. Across four days of competition, sailors will contest a diverse program of courses and divisions designed to deliver challenging, competitive and rewarding racing for all levels of experience.
Hosted by Royal Geelong Yacht Club, Festival of Sails attracts hundreds of yachts and thousands of sailors from across Australia and overseas. Corio Bay’s reliable sea breezes, varied race areas and spectacular waterfront setting make it one of the country’s premier regatta destinations.
Off the water, competitors can enjoy the unique Festival of Sails atmosphere centred around Royal Geelong Yacht Club, the Regatta Village and the Victorian Sailing Centre. Live entertainment, hospitality experiences, food and beverage offerings, and dedicated competitor facilities create a regatta experience unlike any other in Australia.
