Whether you’re planning your campaign or preparing to enter, this page provides an overview of the regatta, key dates and championship schedules, with links to the official Notice of Race and supporting competitor information.

All entries for Festival of Sails are completed through the TopYacht Entry System. The Notice of Race can be found on the official TopYacht Noticeboard.

Important Entry Dates

  • 15 July 2026 – Entries open
  • 3 January 2027 – Standard entries close
  • 10 January 2027 – Late entries (including late fee) close

Championship & Series Overview

Australian Yachting Championship

22-26 January 2027

The Australian Yachting Championship, scored solely on IRC, will be contested over five days.

  • Day 1: Racing hosted by Sandringham Yacht Club.
  • Day 2: Melbourne to Geelong Passage Race.
  • Days 3-5: Racing hosted by Royal Geelong Yacht Club.

Australian Sports Boat Association National Championship

23-26 January 2027

Four days of championship racing on Corio Bay hosted by Royal Geelong Yacht Club.

S80 Victorian Championship

23-25 January 2027

Three days of championship racing on Corio Bay.

Festival Series

Festival of Sails offers a range of racing formats for keelboats, sports boats, multihulls and one-design classes.

Series include:

  • Passage Rating Series
  • Passage Spinnaker Series
  • Passage Non-Spinnaker Series
  • Double Handed Serie
  • Multihull Series
  • J24 Series
  • Passage Mini Series
  • International Cadet Sprint Series

Each series has its own eligibility requirements, schedule and scoring format. Please refer to the Notice of Race for full details.

For competitors not racing on Tuesday, a fleet start will be facilitated for the return sail from Geelong, providing the opportunity to rally home along the bay in friendly competition or enjoy a relaxed cruise home in company.

Self-Nominated Trophies

Some trophies require competitors to nominate during the entry process.

These include:

  • Women’s Trophy
  • Youth Trophy
  • Eligible Class Trophies

You do not need to nominate for these trophies when you first submit your entry. However, you must ensure the relevant box is selected before entries close.
